Easter Devotion 2026

WHAT IS TRUTH?

Imagine the scene: the roar of the crowd outside, the heavy burden of politics within, the air crackling with anticipation, and a weary Roman governor gazing at a bound man who claims a kingdom beyond this world. In the midst of all this confusion Pilate the Roman governor asked the question of Jesus who stood before him, “What is truth?”.

If we were to ask that question today, we would likely start many interesting conversations. Reading and listening to the worldwide media we are confronted with words like conspiracy, fake, lies, opinions, that cause us to ask the questions,

who do we believe, what do we accept as true, why should I believe this or that?

The answer to these questions is in believing and knowing the Truth who stood before Pilate that day. Jesus who had already declared that He was the Truth, was judged by those who had condemned Him with lies. Based on those lies and the roaring crowd Jesus was crucified. He died that we might know the Truth.

God’s Word shows us clearly what is truth, Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” John 14:6

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

“The Spirit shows what is true and will come and guide you into the full truth. The Spirit doesn’t speak on his own. He will tell you only what he has heard from me, and he will let you know what is going to happen.” John16:13.

This Easter what is your response to the Truth who died for you?

“Show me your paths and teach me to follow; guide me by your truth and instruct me. You keep me safe, and I always trust you.”  Psalm 25:4-5

“Teach me to follow you, and I will obey your truth. Always keep me faithful.”  Psalm 86:11

“Be ready! Let the truth be like a belt around your waist,
and let God’s justice protect you like armour.”  Ephesians 6: 14

“Send your light and your truth to guide me.
Let them lead me to your house on your sacred mountain.
Then I will worship at your altar because you make me joyful.”  Psalm 43:3-4

New Year Devotion 2026

Welcoming in the New Year 2026 with a New Year’s devotion:
The Riches of God’s Glory …
“I pray that God will take care of all your needs with the wonderful blessings that come from Christ Jesus!” Philippians 4:19
It is a special joy and privilege to meet weekly on zoom with women from many parts of NZ, and our lovely Australian sister
who lives on a remote Cook island. Together we study God’s Word using the Know Your Bible (KYB) studies.
This year, The Tabernacle and the Temple, Luke Part One, 1 Samuel and Philippians studies have been such a blessing.
Answering the questions, encouraging and listening to each other we have grown in our walk with the Lord.
The questions and notes in the Philippians study, have helped us in many ways. A very important focus throughout the study was constantly being reminded that the way forward in our relationship with the Lord is turning to Him in prayer at all times. Also spending time reflecting on all that the Lord Jesus accomplished when He submitted to his Father’s will in all things.
Jesus, God the Son, obediently died on a cross — what humility and love!
We all agreed that this particular question, “In your understanding, what are some of the riches of God’s glory available to us through Christ?”, helped us to reflect on the amazing riches we now have in the Lord:
Our responses included:
· they are far beyond any earthly gain
· they are spiritual and eternal blessings
· we are made spiritually alive in Christ
· we are blessed with God’s gift of faith
· we receive Christ’s incomparable grace and kindness
We have all we need in Christ! Let us take time this new year to thank and praise God for His wonderful provision,
His amazing grace and kindness, His gift of faith, and for the spiritual and eternal blessings that are ours in Christ.
Paul writes: “Nothing is as wonderful as knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord.”

Christmas Devotion 2025

‘Light that gives Life!’
John 8:12

Auckland Council and partners announce a jaw-dropping festive season set to electrify city centre streets. A magical and enchanting time of the year, a magical pathway of festive lights of family fun and dazzling performances. A time of magical moments so bring the kids and make lifelong memories.

Christmas lighting in our world today is seen as a magical tradition that brings many people joy, warmth, and holiday cheer. There are countless reasons why people are so passionate about Christmas lighting. Christmas lights are beautiful and they do create a festive ambience that many people find appealing. They can evoke joy and wonder and do affect our mood and emotions.

However those of us who celebrate Christmas as a special holiday, see the lights as a precious symbol of the hope and joy that God gave us when our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was born. We are reminded of His love, of how He came to deliver us from sin and give us eternal life in Him.

“I am the light for the world! Follow me, and you won’t be walking in the dark. You will have the light that gives life.” John 8:12

God’s Word also reminds us that we are to be a light to others. That is what the Lord requires of us to not only walk in the light but to be the light for others and show them the way to Christ.

Just as Jesus ministered personally to the people, lifting the oppressed, giving hope to the discouraged, and seeking those who were in the darkness, we must ask the question of how we can be a light to the world, not just this Christmas season, but always.

“But you are God’s chosen and special people.
You are a group of royal priests and a holy nation.
God has brought you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
Now you must tell all the wonderful things he has done”. 1 Peter 2:9
